• Week 4: Parent - Consent & Boundaries w/ Safe Connections

    Answer the Questions Below
  • Dear Parents,

This week’s session focused on helping youth understand the importance of consent and establishing healthy personal boundaries in their relationships. Participants were guided through age-appropriate discussions on what consent looks like, how to give and receive it, and why respecting boundaries, both their own and others’, is essential for building safe, respectful connections.

The group engaged in interactive activities that encouraged them to identify different types of boundaries (physical, emotional, and social) and practice communicating them clearly. Facilitators emphasized that consent must be freely given, reversible, informed, enthusiastic, and specific. Youth were also taught how to recognize situations where boundaries may be crossed and how to respond confidently and safely.

Parents should note that this session reinforces critical life skills around self-respect, communication, and personal safety. We encourage you to continue these conversations at home by discussing what healthy boundaries look like in your family and supporting your child in expressing their comfort levels openly.

Overall, students demonstrated strong engagement and growing awareness of how to build and maintain safe, respectful relationships.

    Sincerely,
    Dr. Shantasha Love, Program Manager
